Barong Bangkung
Barong Bangkung is part of the traditional Balinese barong performing arts. This show is called malelawang (mala = leteh = dirty aura, lawang = entrance yard) which is dominated by the children for the feast enliven Hindus in Bali. This show is usually held a day after Holy Day Kuningan (Manis Kuningan), even before the Holy Day Kuningan are staged in several villages in Bali.
Described also in Bali Modern Literature, dance history of Barong Bangkung also called Barong Bangkal which means big old pig, therefore it resembles a fat old ugly pig.
Generally staged around the village (ngelelawang) by two dancers on certain days that are considered sacred or the time of the plague attacked the village without bringing a storytelling and accompanied by gamelan batel / tetambuhan (Balinese traditional musical instruments.
